The head of Russia's ruling regime, Vladimir Putin, plans to annex a fifth of Ukraine by mid-September through a so-called “referendum.” This was reported by the Bloomberg news agency on Thursday, July 21, citing its own sources.
The media notes that the “voting” should take place in the temporarily occupied parts of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
The issue of the annexation of the territories of Ukraine is handled by the head of the presidential administration, Sergei Kiriyenko.
Sources also said that the Russian occupiers want to annex those territories that they can occupy before September.
“If Russia the annexation of all territories not controlled by Kyiv will succeed, Ukraine will lose about a fifth of its territory, in particular, land communication with Crimea and transport routes in the Black Sea, which are key for Ukrainian exports,” the news agency summarizes.
