Samsung removed Z from smartphone names in Ukraine and the Baltic States

South Korean the company has renamed phones for four countries. However, in Russia itself, their old name is still preserved on the official website.

Samsung has removed the letter Z from the names of smartphones. Rebranding took place in the Baltic countries and Ukraine. However, these changes have not yet affected Russia. This is reported by NotebookCheck on Wednesday, July 3.

The Galaxy Z Fold3 5G smartphone on the official Samsung websites in Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania is now called Galaxy Fold3 5G. The Galaxy Z Flip3 5G has also undergone changes – it is also now called Galaxy Flip3 5G.

The initiative of the South Korean company may be related to the war in Ukraine, since the military of the aggressor country marks its equipment with this letter, the newspaper notes. Moreover, in Russia there is a kind of cult of this sign. On the web, this symbol began to be called “zwastika”, by analogy with the Nazi swastika.

The official website of Samsung in Russia has not yet made the same changes to the names of smartphones.
