If you notice a “squint look” in your pet, then it may seem that the dog is condemning your actions. Japanese scientists believe that it does not seem to you, but in fact it is. But not all dogs do this, writes the Daily Mail.

Scientists from Kyoto University, Japan, set out to find out if dogs can judge people based on their abilities, that is, their ability to do something right. Scientists wanted to understand whether dogs can judge a person for mistakes and thus change their attitude towards him.

Dogs have adapted to life in human society through the process of domestication and have learned to recognize our behavior and find the right connection with us. It is already known that some species of primates can make value judgments, but it has not been known whether dogs can do this.

As part of the study, the scientists used 30 dogs, which had to observe two people who had a container with a lid. One person tried to open the container and succeeded, and the second could not open the lid. All this time, animals were watching people's actions.

Then people were given containers with dog food, which also had to be opened. And this process was again observed by dogs, and scientists in turn were observing them. It turned out that the actions of a person who was initially able to open the lid of the container were observed much longer by female dogs. And they were more likely to approach these people.

The scientists concluded that it is female dogs, rather than males, who are better able to recognize the level of competence of people, especially if this affects the dogs themselves. At the same time, male dogs were not particularly interested in the level of competence of people and could approach any of them, even if the person could not open the lid of the container with food the first time.

Thus, scientists concluded that dogs secretly condemn a person when he makes mistakes. But only female dogs do this. Males actually don't give a damn about human ability levels.

nutrition,” says Hitomi Chijiiwa of Kyoto University.

Previous studies have already shown that female dogs are more attuned to human interaction than males.

Now Japanese scientists want to conduct new experiments to find out exactly how sex differences in dogs affect their attitudes towards people. It will also be a subject of future research to examine whether dogs rate us as a reliable partner.

Focus has already written about how a particular parenting style affects how your dog grows up. If you follow certain rules of upbringing, then your pet will grow up cheerful and smart.

As for other pets, for example, cats, as Focus already wrote, scientists told whether they can give milk.
