20th Century Company is developing a reboot of the 1988 classic film Working Girl, and Selena Gomez is in talks to produce the film. Ilana Peña is adapting the script, and the film is likely to premiere on Hulu. Sources told Deadline.
Like many studios trying to revive popular 80s and 90s films after the success of Top Gun: Maverick, 20th Century sees this as a timely asset and considers Gomez as an ideal project partner.
The exact plot details of this tape are unknown. But the original 1988 film starring Melanie Griffith, Harrison Ford, Sigourney Weaver and Joan Cusack revolves around an ambitious secretary (Griffith). The film was not only one of that year's breakout hits, grossing over $100 million at the national box office, but was also critically acclaimed and received six Oscar nominations, including a Best Picture nomination, a Best Actress nomination for Griffith and supporting actress nominations for Cusack and Weaver.
