Seniors will receive higher benefits than expected by the government. The Deputy Minister of Family and Social Policy took the floor on next year's valorisation
How much will seniors gain from the valorization of 2023?
As the “Super Express” portal reminds us, in March 2023 seniors will face the indexation of pensions. According to the government's announcements, the lowest benefits are to increase by at least PLN 250. In the case of higher pensions, the indexation ratio is assumed to amount to 13.8 percent. The deputy minister of family and social policy revealed how much higher this indicator could be.
Details of the indexation of benefits in 2023
In the era of rampant inflation, seniors are even more impatient than usual for next year's indexation of pensions. Recently, he dealt with the project of pay rises planned for March 2023. And so, according to the assumptions, the lowest benefit is to increase by PLN 250 gross and will amount to PLN 1,588.44 gross (PLN 1,445.48 net).
In the case of benefits that are lower than the minimum and those that are higher than it, the indexation is to be in the form of a percentage. The government's assumptions include a provision that the indexation index will amount to 13.8 percent. Only at the end of January next year we will find out whether the government's forecasts will finally come true, or whether the indicator will be higher.
No more than 14%.
In an interview with “Super Express”, the deputy head of the ministry of family and social policy, Stanisław Szwed, stated that “there will be no valorization higher than 14 percent”. As calculated by “Super Express”, seniors receiving a benefit in the amount of PLN 1,217.98 would gain PLN 227.50.
For seniors receiving a pension in the amount of PLN 2,300, this would mean a benefit higher by about PLN 300. Seniors receiving the benefit in the amount of PLN 3,084, after indexation at the estimated level, would gain about PLN 389.87. For a pensioner with a benefit of up to PLN 3,949.80, the valorization would be PLN 510.98.
Do you think that the index of next year's indexation will be higher or lower than the government's estimates?
