Shazam 2: a trailer with well revered gods presented at Comic-Con

Until now, Shazam: Fury of the Gods was still an enigma, with very few images leaking out. The plot of the film is revealed with a first video.

It was one of the main headliners announced ahead of this fifty-sixth edition of San Diego Comic-Con. As promised in an evocative tweet a few weeks ago, Zachary Levi traveled to California to present the first footage of Shazam! Fury of the Gods, in which he plays the superpowered eponymous hero.

The movie is due December 21, 2022,a few days before Christmas and a full first trailer beautiful special effects and little retarded teenage jokes were unveiled during the DC panel. The script for this superheroic sequel (still directed by David F. Sandberg) is becoming clearer.

At this stage, we already knew some scenario elements: the actresses Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu will play Hespera and Kalypso, two daughters of the titan Atlas. They will be the main antagonists of this second film. While the first focused mainly on how Billy tames his new powers, this sequel should – if we are to believe its title – oppose the young hero with a divine ire.

This trailer shows that this time he will be able to count on the support of his adoptive siblings, little budding “shazams”. After these few images, however, we still do not know if the return match between Billy and Thaddeus Sivana (promised in the credits of the previous film) will take place.

As a reminder, Shazam! had been rather well received in 2019: with 90% positive opinions on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, it is even one of the biggest successes of the DCEU (along with Wonder Woman and Peacemaker). At the box office, the film had grossed $366 million on a non-marketing budget of $100 million.

This trailer from< strong>Shazam! 2 is one of the many surprises revealed to the many comic book fans in San Diego. Since the conference began on Thursday, The Walking Dead's 1000th spin-off (starring Grimes and Michonne!) has been made official and a stunning trailer for The Lord of the Rings series : The Rings of Powerwas also featured by Amazon.
