    A roaming black hole flies through space at a speed of several million kilometers per hour.

    Scientists need confirmation of their assumptions about a black hole flying in space called CID-42. With the help of the Webb Space Telescope, researchers want to understand exactly what happened in a galaxy several million light-years away, Inverse reports.

    Scientists have long assumed that black holes can leave their galaxies. As already written by FocusThis theory has recently been confirmed. But so far, scientists are aware of only 10 potential candidates for escaping black holes, which are awaiting confirmation.

    Now astronomers from the University of Memphis, Tennessee, USA, have focused their attention on the hour of a supermassive black hole called CID-42 leaving a galaxy in the constellation Sextant, nearly 4 million light-years away.

    In order to find out exactly what happened in this distant galaxy and why a black hole flies beyond its limits, scientists want to use the new Webb Space Telescope.

    “We believe that there are a lot of such black holes-wanderers in the Universe , it's just that they're very hard to detect, but we got lucky with this black hole,” says Francisco Muller Sanchez of the University of Memphis.

    Scientists have also discovered that the escaped black hole is near another yet unknown object near the center of the galaxy, which is not emitted by strong X-ray radiation that would indicate that this is another black hole.

    But the Webb telescope will be able to clarify the situation, scientists say. They want to know what the second object is and where exactly the black hole is flying.

    “This black hole could have been ejected from the center of the galaxy as a result of the merger of two, and most likely even three galaxies. As a result, the colliding black holes could have united, but one of them, as a result of the action of gravitational forces, began to leave its galaxy,” says Muller Sanchez.

    To prove this, high-precision observations of the Webb telescope are needed.

    “We do not yet understand exactly where exactly this black hole is moving and whether it can return back to the center of the galaxy. Maybe a system of two supermassive black holes, and this hole actually just revolves around a common center of mass,” says Müller Sanchez.

    As for the second mysterious object, it is covered by a dense cloud of dust and gas, which may not transmit radiation, and this object is actually a supermassive black hole.

    “But it may be that the center of this galaxy , which was formed from three components, was left without a black hole at all, and this will be an amazing example of galactic evolution. In the center of the galaxy, there may just be a massive cluster of stars, “says Müller Sanchez.

    Focus already wrote that scientists were able to discover for the first time a sleeping black hole outside the Milky Way. This inactive black hole was found in a satellite galaxy of our Milky Way, and it is only 9 times the mass of the Sun.
