Sounds of automatic weapons and air raid signals are heard near the Serbian border town of Novi Pazar .

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, in an address to fellow citizens, said that the police of the Republic of Kosovo are preparing for a military operation against Serbs living in the northern region of Kosovo. According to him, the Pristina authorities plan to stop anyone with Serbian identity cards at the border starting from midnight on August 1. This is reported by the Serbian TV channel N1.

The Serbian leader explained that the Kosovo authorities would demand that the Serbs re-register their cars with Kosovo license plates. For a military operation, according to Vučić, Kosovo police units moved forward at the Yarine and Brnak border checkpoints.

“We will ask for peace and ask for peace, but I will tell you right away – … if they try to start persecution of Serbs, bullying of Serbs, killings of Serbs – Serbia will win,” Vučić stressed.

It should be noted that the situation in the region escalated after the authorities of Kosovo obliged all citizens of Serbia who will enter the territory of Kosovo from August 1 to receive a temporary border crossing document, and Serbian documents will be considered invalid.

Commenting this step, Serbian Foreign Minister Nikola Selakovich said that the Albanian side in Kosovo and Metohija is preparing literally “hell” for the Serbs, who may find themselves in a difficult situation.
