Shootings on the island of Thau against the backdrop of drug trafficking: three Sète residents tried after the death of “Poisson”, shot dead in his car

Two brothers and an alleged thug are being tried from this Monday, January 27, by the Hérault Assize Court. One admitted to having shot and killed Ayoub Anajjar on April 24, 2020 in the Globe estate on the Île de Thau in Sète.

The Hérault Assize Court has given itself five days, starting this Monday, January 27, to determine the circumstances in which Ayoub Anajjar, known as “Poisson”, was shot and killed at the wheel of his car on April 24, 2020 in Sète.

In the dock, three men from Sète, two brothers and a supposed thug, began to be tried in this case that occurred on the island of Thau, in the city of Globe, where lucrative drug retail outlets are courted by traffickers in a bloody manner.

Abdekrim Chalam, 36, admits to having fired five “7-65” bullets at “Poisson”, but, he stated during the investigation, because he had been threatened by the victim for months and had nothing to do with any drug case.

His little brother Sophian Chalam, 24, certified during the investigation that he was not the second individual seen on the videos broadcast on the networks rushing with a gun in his hand towards Anajjar's BMW and checking that he was indeed dead.

A murder acknowledged, an attempted homicide contested

Nordine Souas finally, 34 years old, known as “Nono”, was cleared of the murder of “Poisson”. But he is accused of a scene of violence that occurred just before in the same place: having hit an individual, then tried to shoot him, without success, by shooting several times in his direction, the victim hiding behind a Ford Fiesta found riddled with bullets.

Which would have led “Poisson” to think that he was targeted and to come and explain himself. He formally denies attempted murder, admits to punching and denies being any kind of thug in the city, much less having been the leader of the two brothers. The verdict is expected on Friday evening.
