Six people victims of a head-on collision on Monts Valin

The collision occurred on path L200.

A head-on collision occurred around 9 a.m. at kilometer 20 of L200 Road in the Monts Valin sector. Six people are involved in this collision between two pickup trucks.

The collision occurred at the top of an elevation in the road.

The site of the accident is located more than 80 km from Route 172.

Five ambulances were dispatched to the scene, including one belonging to Hydro-Québec. People were reportedly injured to varying degrees, but none of their lives were in danger. The injured were taken to a hospital.

The injured persons are workers from a company that performs a contract for Hydro-Québec.

The workers involved in the accident are employees of a Hydro-Québec supplier, as part of the Micoua-Saguenay project. We have no information on the cause of the accident, said Caroline Des Rosiers, strategic advisor in corporate communications for Hydro-Québec, by email.

The accident occurred on the L200 road.

An investigation by the Commission for Standards, Equity, Health and Safety at Work (CNESST) will be conducted.

David Blouin, regional spokesperson for the CNESST, confirms that a team intervened on the spot. It is therefore a work accident. Inspectors are working to secure the area and gather the information needed for their investigation.

The health and safety of our employees and contractors is a priority for Hydro-Québec. We are very concerned about what happened this morning. One accident is always one too many, added Caroline Des Rosiers.
