As the “Super Express” website reminds us, although the weather is already very autumn, the beginning of autumn is still ahead of us. With the advent of this season, we are starting to think more and more often about changing the time from summer to winter time. When exactly will it happen? Will this be the last time we move our clock hands?

When will the time change to winter in 2022?

Ahead of us is the traditional change from summer to winter time. As every year, it happens on the last weekend of October. This year it will take place on October 29-30. This is when we move our clock backwards by one hour, from 3 to 2 o'clock. It is worth remembering that most smartphones and devices connected to the network make changes automatically.

It's no secret that discussions have been going on for years as to whether the time change is still valid. In Poland, as in many European countries, the dominant view is that it should be abandoned. The European Parliament even approved a plan to end the clock shift last year, but ultimately did not happen.

Interestingly, a regulation has been introduced in Poland, under which we will change the time, at least until 2026. Opponents of time change point out that time change brings only illusory savings in electricity consumption.

The assumption is that switching to daylight saving time should allow better take advantage of the fact that it is light longer – that is why we move the pointers one hour forward. During the change to winter time, we shift the time to compensate for the spring change, and also to “shift the evening hours to those earlier than the sun's movement in the sky.”
