Spouse of 90-year-old woman murdered in RPA charged with unpremeditated murder

Brian Paul Dennison, 82, was charged Thursday with the unpremeditated murder of his 90-year-old spouse, Annie Di Lauro, at the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield courthouse.

The body of the victim was discovered by his daughter around 1 p.m. Wednesday, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) having been called urgently to the scene.

Ms. DiLauro's body bore obvious marks of violence. Her spouse was at the scene of the murder. He too bore wound marks. He was immediately taken into custody.

Investigators believe he attempted suicide after the murder of his wife.

< p class="e-p">Authorities rule out a mercy killing, as the victim allegedly tried to defend herself by inflicting injuries on her husband.

The Le Groupe Maurice's communications director, Marie-Ève ​​Généreux, assured in an email that this was an isolated incident and that the other residents had nothing to fear.
