A man was seriously injured by stabbing early Friday morning in the borough of Saint-Laurent, in Montreal.

Police officers from the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) were called around 1 a.m. to a residence on Avenue O'Brien, near the ;intersection of chemin de la Côte-Vertu, where a 24-year-old man was waiting for them, seriously injured in the upper body by a knife.

The victim who was conscious on arrival officers was taken to hospital, where her life would no longer be in danger.

Police say the man was attending a family celebration at the O'Brien Street residence on Friday night, but that's not where he was believed to have been assaulted.

The young man would have left the party at a certain point before returning to it a little later seriously injured. That's when the emergency services were contacted.
