Darth Vader and his Jedi Master have been reunited in Obi-Wan Kenobi. Why doesn't the terrifying Sith want to kill his teacher?

Fans couldn't wait to reunite with their favorite characters in the new Disney+ series. Obi-Wan Kenobi, played by Ewan McGregor, is also one of the favorite Jedi of Star Wars fans.. In his eponymous series, we can learn many details about his life in Tatooine. The Obi-Wan/Darth Vader duo has become cult for many. Indeed, they have found themselves numerous times in the franchise. It was therefore only natural that new reunions be on the program in Obi-Wan Kenobi. Moreover, when the series was announced, we knew that Hayden Christensen was going to participate. Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, called this meeting the revenge of the century.

Darth Vader's first (re)appearance was in Episode 3 of Obi-Wan Kenobi. He did not fail to terrify the Jedi Master who was enjoying his well-deserved retirement. Between this point and Episode 5, the show seems to emphasize that the Sith wishes to keep their former master alive. The question of why remains unanswered. A beginning of an answer could be provided thanks to this new Disney+ series. In episode 3, Darth Vader takes over and tortures Obi-Wan. He then explains that the latter will now suffer as he himself suffered on Mustafar. The Sith goes on to state that his pain has only just begun. Yet he hasn't balked at killing before, so why spare his former master?

A need for revenge?

Darth Vader's hatred for Obi-Wan Kenobi is intense. It is this hatred that helps him develop his powers, of the dark side of the Force. The Sith probably feels a need for revenge, which seems to be confirmed with Episode 3. Could the infamous Vader take his former Jedi Master to Fortress Inquisitorius? This location contains a room filled with Jedi graves. There is also a torture chamber there. Does Darth Vader intend to use it for revenge? We might also wonder if the Sith might have planned to deliver Obi-Wan to Palpatine, who might have reason to resent him. In any case, one thing is clear: Anakin Skywalker seems to want to keep his master alive! To be continued…
