He did not live to see the yacht completed and launched, Jobs died of pancreatic cancer before the ship was completed in 2012.

The Venus yacht is built from lightweight aluminum, and Jobs hired the chief engineer of his Apple stores to help develop a special glass that allowed the vessel to install huge windows throughout the hull.

As a token of appreciation, the Jobs family presented the fabricated a custom iPod Shuffle engraved with the name of the yacht for every member of the crew who helped build it. The iPod came with a note thanking them for “hard work and craftsmanship.”

They had three children: son Reed, and daughters Erin and Eve, and Powell was the stepmother to Jobs' daughter, Lisa Brennan-Jobs.
