In Kiev at the metro station “Dnepr” has established an unusual sculpture — figure five-foot jellyfish made of plastic bags. The authors of the sculpture claim that the ideas were good. “Medusa LDPE” was to remind the people of Kiev about the harm plastic causes, getting in the water bodies of the planet and in the Dnieper river in particular.
The sculpture was supposed to stay on the station until the end of summer, but not staid and day. 2 Jul photo AP News found plastic Medusa broken and lying on the stairwell in the station.
Who could damage the sculpture is not yet clear. As reported in the Kiev subway, passengers could not approach the Medusa — the work was behind glass in a remote corner of the station, under a monument of a woman with doves.
Sculpture of Medusa is a creation of the group ZiguraArt (Mykyta and Egor Zigura). LDPE is the abbreviation of the title is the official designation of the polyethylene from which manufactures including packages.
Metro explained that choosing a place for installation of sculpture, stopped at the station “Dnepr” to the problem of plastic pollution have reflected not only the passengers of the subway, but people staying on the waterfront.
The people of Kiev to the plastic miracle in a subway station reacted ambiguously. Some criticized the location of the installation, many did not like the idea of a monument from recycled materials.
Earlier, environmentalists have found that most of the water on the planet already contains microparticles of plastic. These particles can enter the human body, but their effects have not been studied.
