Stranger Things season 4: one of the characters had to die according to the creators of the Netflix series

Stranger Things creators Ross and Matt Duffer have confirmed that a version of the Season 4 storyline has another character from the Netflix series.

Warning: Stranger Things Season 4 spoilers!

< p style="text-align: justify;">After airing the first part of season 4 of Stranger Things, the streaming giant released the final two episodes of this penultimate batch on July 1. The four additional hours have in particular allowed the scattered characters and sub-plots to come together for the great outcome of the Netflix phenomenon which is increasingly panicking the counters of the platform. It must be said that the end of the season passed the second with chills (but not too much), blood (but not too much), fights (but not too much) and deaths (but not too much either).

Despite the notable improvements in terms of horrific atmosphere and stakes, the series still has a hard time skimming its cast. Even actress Millie Bobby Brown, aka Eleven, jokingly took the blame, despite a kernel of truth.

In addition to Doctor Brenner (Matthew Modine), who should have died a while ago, the series has left behind the newcomer, Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn), known as the leader of the Hellfire Club of high school. 'Hawkins and the alleged culprit of the murders that rocked the city. But as creators Matt and Ross Duffer recently explained to Collider, another season rookie should have been there:“As far as who gets by, live or die, I think there's had a version where Dimitri, aka Enzo, didn't make it out. […] Then he did eventually get out of it. But that's the most drastic change between the original idea and what we have finally done”.

Dimitri Antonov, portrayed by Tom Wlaschiha, is the guard Hopper (David Harbour) allied with while imprisoned in Russia. He was also the one who contacted Joyce for a ransom before being betrayed by Yuri, the Soviet pilot played by Nikola Djuricko.

We shouldn't have asked them to kill a major character either, it could have been surprising

If there is no indication that the character has gone beyond the iron curtain with Joyce and Hopper, it is not impossible that he will be called back for the fifth and final season given that he's battled Demogorgons before and the show should need as many arms as possible to take down Vecna and the Upside Down that chomps Hawkins more greedily.

For the moment, it is not yet known when this fifth season will we'll land on Netflix, but Collider said writing should begin next August for a likely release sometime in 2023.
