The rebel coalition has brought down Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. While the location of the “butcher of Damascus” was initially unknown, he has now reportedly arrived in Russia.

Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad and his family are in Moscow, Russian news agencies reported Sunday evening, citing a Kremlin source, after the fall of the Syrian authorities in a lightning offensive by rebel groups led by radical Islamists.

Asylum granted

“Assad and his family members have arrived in Moscow. Russia, based on humanitarian considerations, has granted them asylum on humanitarian grounds,”, the source told state news agencies TASS and RIA Novosti.
