Questioned in Les Echos about this suggestion made Tuesday by the Minister of Labor Astrid Panosyan-Bouvet, Mr. Lombard replied that “the government's position is unambiguous: no new taxes on households!” According to him, “the adoption of the 2025 budget must, on the contrary, allow 18 million people not to see their income tax increase thanks to the indexation of the scale”.

This concern arose on Tuesday. Labor Minister Astrid Panosyan-Bouvet spoke of taxing “retirees who can afford it”. Thus, she believes that the effort should not be focused solely on “companies” and “workers”.

This would be a “personal position”, according to the minister's entourage, which would be “not at all on the agenda”, according to a close friend of François Bayrou. An idea that has indeed been rejected by Bercy if we are to believe the statement of the Minister of the Economy.
