Such Tesla performance allowed it to bypass its main competitor BYD, which had previously sensationally become a leader in the electric car segment. In the third quarter, the Chinese concern produced only 258,610 electric vehicles.

The new Tesla gigafactories in China, Germany and Texas have played a significant role in increasing production volumes. In particular, the German plant doubled the rate of car production – up to 2,000 electric cars per week.

343,830 cars were delivered to customers during the quarter. Tesla experienced logistical problems, but they were overcome by the end of the quarter. Since the beginning of the year, Tesla has already produced 929,910 cars (+49% by 2021) and delivered 908,573 of them to their owners. The company plans to assemble at least 1.2 million electric cars by the end of the year.
