Airbus reported a net loss for the second quarter. It made 1 billion 200 million euros. Revenue for the same period fell by 55% – to 8 billion 300 million euros. The results were worse than analysts ‘ forecast. Airbus also reported a decrease in the production of its most popular model, the A350 – up to five aircraft per month.
According to the head of the Corporation Guillaume Fori, the impact of the crisis associated with the pandemic coronavirus, was particularly noticeable in the second quarter, when sales of commercial aircraft decreased by half compared to the same period last year. “We are faced with a difficult situation, and ahead of us is uncertainty. But we believe that our decisions allowed us to take the right attitude to work in these difficult industry times,” said Fori.
Airbus is one of the largest aerospace and defense companies in the world.In early July, the Corporation announced plans to cut 15 thousand jobs, which caused a wave of protests of employees in Spain and Germany.
