The Berlin authorities refused to hold an exhibition with equipment of the RF Armed Forces destroyed by Ukrainians

The city leadership argued its refusal by saying that such an event is unacceptable, since it affects Germany's foreign policy interests.

The Berlin authorities rejected the application of two museum operators who wanted to hold an exhibition of destroyed military equipment of the Russian Armed Forces in the city. Andriy Melnik, Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany, announced this on his Twitter microblog.

According to him, the cancellation of the exhibition, at which it was planned to demonstrate the destroyed equipment of the Russian Armed Forces to the inhabitants of Berlin, is a real scandal.

Andrei Melnyk addressed his publication to the mayor of the city, Franziska Giffay, and the district administration Mitte, with a call to allow the event to be held, which had previously also been held in Kyiv, Warsaw, Wroclaw, Poznan and Prague.

“I am asking to cancel this strange decision and allow a tank exhibition in Berlin. This will mean real solidarity with Ukraine,” the diplomat added in his Twitter microblog.

In a commentary to the Tagesspiegel, Andrei Melnik said that such an exhibition in Berlin should give the people of Germany a direct feeling of the brutal war of annihilation that Russia is waging against Ukraine. According to the diplomat, Ukrainians are shocked that the city authorities canceled the application of two museum operators to host the event.

The initiators of the exhibition, in communication with journalists, stressed that they wanted to use the project with the destroyed equipment of the Russian Armed Forces to demonstrate their attitude towards full-scale war in Ukraine. The district administration of Mitte, which rejected the application, explained that such an exhibition was unacceptable because it affected the interests of Germany's foreign policy.

According to the authorities, they were guided by the position of the Department of Art, Culture and History when refusing.

“In support of the refusal of the exhibition, two arguments are given. On the one hand, it is likely that people died in the destroyed military equipment, and therefore its exposition is inappropriate. In addition, the installation of captured Russian tanks from the current war in Berlin will affect the foreign policy interests of Germany. Also it was said that the Mitte district office could only give approval after discussion with the chancellery of the Senate or the federal government,” the Tagesspiegel said.
