On January 13, 2025, a 12-year-old child was reported missing in the Manche department before being found in unusual circumstances.

It is the end of long hours of worry for the boy's relatives. This Tuesday, the child who had been missing since Monday morning in the Manche was found. According to our colleagues at Ouest-France, the young teenager was caught stealing products from the Leclerc supermarket in Tourlaville.

He spends the night outside

On Monday, the 12-year-old child with psychological problems disappeared in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, in the far north of the department. His family, having received no news from him, reported his absence to the authorities and an investigation into “worrying disappearance”was immediately opened since it is a minor.

According to our colleagues, the young teenager traveled between the Cotentin polyclinic and the town of Collignon, around 5 a.m. this Tuesday. A bus driver recognized him and reported his presence.

Theft in a Leclerc supermarket

The Cherbourg police station followed this lead and finally received a report from Tourlaville, a few kilometers away. The child had just committed a theft in a supermarket.

This escapade required the deployment of a tracking dog on the night of Monday Tuesday, as well as the staff of the Cherbourg gendarmerie. Furthermore, in accordance with the request of the public prosecutor and after obtaining the agreement of the boy's relatives, an appeal for witnesses had been widely broadcast in the local media.
