The church fund will receive record money from the state budget. The Ministry of Finance explains the reason for such a decision

According to the “Money” portal, referring to the reports of “Rzeczpospolita”, next year's budget will include a record high amount to be transferred to the Church Fund. In 2023, over PLN 200 million is to be allocated for this purpose. This money will, inter alia, be used to cover the costs of health and pension contributions for clergy, mainly Catholic. Church fund with considerable support from the state budget
The church fund was introduced by a provision of the Act of March 20, 1950. In accordance with the regulations currently in force, the Fund covers all clergy from all churches, as well as religious communities with a regulated legal status in our country. The dominant part is made up of Catholic priests.
Since 1990, the Church Fund has been financed with funds from the state budget. Since the takeover of the government by the United Right, the number of funds allocated for this purpose has been systematically growing. In 2016, PLN 145.3 million was allocated to the Fund, and in 2022 as much as PLN 192.8 million.
The government decided that in 2023 a record amount of PLN 216 million will be allocated to the Church Fund. For comparison, by 2012 these amounts reached PLN 100 million.
Where did this change come from?
It turns out that the increase in funds for the Church Fund, is to be the result of next year's increase in the minimum wage. This information is provided by the Ministry of Finsn & oacute; w.
However, this is not the only reason. The increase in outlays is also related to the subsidies reactivated some time ago, intended, among others, for charity and care activities, or for the renovation of religious facilities.
