For the first time in history, a serial Porsche 911 will become a crossover. Previously, such versions were prepared only for racing. In particular, in 1984, the off-road 911 won the Paris-Dakar rally and that is why the name Dakar was chosen for the novelty.
The serial all-wheel drive coupe Porsche 911 Carrera 4S was taken as a basis. He increased the clearance, added a plastic body kit and bottom protection, installed off-road tires. A roof rack will be offered as an option. The interior has not yet been shown – it is expected that the car will receive a special interior finish.
The main characteristics of the Porsche 911 Dakar are still kept secret. It is known that the car received a 3.0-liter turbo engine, which develops 450 hp in the standard Carrera 4S model. With. Average fuel consumption is 11.3 l/100km. The coupe's suspension has been retuned and beefed up.
The Porsche 911 crossover was actively tested in the most difficult conditions. It has been tested in the desert in the UAE and Morocco, and also visited the Arctic Circle. In total, the prototypes have traveled over 500,000 km.
