The iconic AC Cobra will finally survive the generational change. The new model will appear in 2023, but for now, its first teasers have been presented. Details of the car were revealed on the official website of AC Cars.
Roadster AC Cobra GT Roadster (that's what the new model will be called) will be timed to coincide with the 122th anniversary of the British automaker – it was decided to celebrate not a round date. The sports car will retain the familiar classic design with a long hood, round headlights and extended fenders, but will be larger and heavier than its predecessor – the weight will be about 1.5 tons.
The new AC Cobra GT Roadster will be built on an aluminum space frame designed by the Italian company Icona Design Group. The design uses modern technologies and materials.
The sports car will be more comfortable and adapted to long-distance travel than the classic Cobra. The equipment will be replenished with air conditioning, a multimedia system and power windows. A hard top can be offered for an extra charge.
At the same time, the new Cobra will, of course, keep a large V8 under the hood – most likely it will be a 5.0-liter Ford Mustang 2023 engine. Its power will be increased to 663 l. with., and the peak torque will be raised to 780 Nm. With a 6-speed manual transmission, acceleration to 100 km/h takes 3.6 seconds.
AC Cars and Shelby still produce classic Cobra in small batches. In addition, many companies produce replicas of the model.
