The Gray Man 2: Netflix already announces the sequel with Ryan Gosling (and even a whole universe)

Less than a week after the release of the action movie The Gray Man, Netflix has already confirmed the development of a sequel with Ryan Gosling, and even a spin-off.

Warning: some spoilers on The Gray Man

In case of success on the small or the big screen, the rule is that there is a sequel or any derivative project allowing a part to be put back in the machine. This is all the more true on Netflix, which launches into the development of franchises at any opportunity. So when The Gray Man was released on the platform on July 22, it seemed obvious that a The Gray Man 2was going to be discussed, even announced, shortly after the arrival of the action film directed by the Russo brothers, as had already been the case for the heist film Red Notice which will be entitled to two additional sections.

Even before Netflix boasted about the film's audiences by sharing ultra-opaque figures on Twitter, the streaming giant therefore announced the sequel to its blockbuster(naze) at 200 million dollars. While Chris Evans' character will struggle to come back from the dead, Ryan Gosling's character, Six, will be back in action and mustache.

The Gray Man Universe is expanding! A sequel to The Gray Man is now in development with star Ryan Gosling, directors Joe & Anthony Russo & co-writer Stephen McFeely set to return!

A spin-off is also in the works from acclaimed screenwriters Paul Wernick & Rhett Reese (Deadpool)

Directors Joe and Anthony Russo and co-writer Stephen McFeely will be back behind the camera. A spin-off is also in the works under the direction of screenwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese (Deadpool, 6 Underground , Spiderhead), but no information—especially the director or cast—has been shared. We can still imagine that this spin-off (which should take the form of a feature film) could focus on the killer played by Dhanush or the agent camped by Ana de Armas.

And the female spin-off of John Wick in all this?

Netflix therefore applies the same logic in The Gray Man as in his previous cartoons with a sequel and/or derivative projects based on the model of an extended universe. Army of the Dead will thus be followed by Planet of the Dead after the prequel Army of Thieves and the spin-off Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, while The Russo Brothers will also produce the sequel to Tyler Rake and the universe that is supposed to revolve around the Chris Hemsworth's mercenary. No production or release date has yet been announced for The Gray Man 2 or its untitled spin-off.

Before seeing him again on Netflix, Ryan Gosling will first be showing the film Barbie with Margot Robbie from July 19, 2023 in French cinemas.
