The Minister of culture Alexander Tkachenko considers wrong violent approach to the promotion of the Ukrainian language. He stated this in an interview Liga.net.
“When we talk about protection of the Ukrainian language, I do not advocate violence on this issue. I for the promotion of language and dialogue. But we can’t come to Odessa, or Kharkov and penalize waiters for the fact that we do not serve the state language. This is not the method of achieving natural use of the Ukrainian language. The violence in this issue is “scoop 2.0”, – said Tkachenko.
However, the Minister said that today in the sphere of Ukrainian television there is no market that can make high-quality Ukrainian-language content. Therefore Tkachenko predicts that Ukraine still some time will remain a Russian production and exports.
However, the head of the Ministry of culture said that this year his office does not intend to review the quotas for television and radio of the Ukrainian language.
We will remind, the law on language quotas on TV began operating in October 2017.
Established a quota of 75% for national TV and 60% for local.
In March 2020, the head of the Verkhovna Rada Dmitry Razumkov not rule out the possibility of revision by Parliament of the law on quotas of Ukrainian language.
