The victim in the trial of former Rimouski MP Harold LeBel has filed a motion to have the publication ban protecting his identity.
In a sworn statement, the victim claims to believe that this order is no longer necessary after careful consideration.
She claims that it is x27;a well-considered, informed and voluntary decision.
His identity has been protected since November 20, 2020 in the Harold LeBel sexual assault trial. The latter was sentenced to eight months in prison in January 2023.
The victim also indicates that she now wants to be able to discuss her experience publicly and openly through the justice system and, thus, do useful work and continue to move forward.
A decision could be rendered shortly at the Rimouski courthouse.
For his part, Harold LeBel was granted his parole on Tuesday. He had been imprisoned since his conviction.
