The head of the coordination Commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for the Olympic games 2020 John Coates has commented on the postponement of the competition for 2021 due to pandemic coronavirus COVID-19. According to him, Games should take place in the period from July to August of the following year. It is reported Sport24.
“The Olympic games should take place in between Wimbledon in early July and the US Open in early September,” said Coates in an interview with Japanese newspaper Yomiuri, noting that the exact date of the event shall be determined over the next four weeks.
The 2020 Olympics were held in Tokyo from 24 July to 9 August. However, because of the pandemic, COVID-19 of the IOC, together with the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe on March 24 decided to postpone the Game for 2021. The exact date that the Committee was not called.
