Horse is a perennial plant belonging to the Cabbage family.
The product is of Mediterranean origin, which is why it boasts the bright Latin name Armoracia. Later, horseradish gained popularity in Russia, where it was used both as a magical product and as a necessary element of wedding ceremonies, informs Ukr.Media.
But practical use was found not only in horseradish roots, which are widely used as a spice today. , but also leaves. Let's figure out why this plant got people's love.
Leaves of horseradish
Among other edible greens, horseradish leaves stand out for their enormous nutrition. They contain vitamins of group B, as well as C, E and PP. In addition, there is a large amount of potassium, calcium, magnesium, sulfur, and selenium. And the concentration of ascorbic acid will give a head start even to lemon and black currant.
The presence of phytoncides allows the use of horseradish leaves to protect against harmful microorganisms. Moreover, the concentration of phytoncides is so high that even dried leaves have a bactericidal effect. Experienced housewives use them in home hair removal.
And the medicinal properties of horseradish leaves will get rid of dangerous salt deposits. For this, the following procedure must be carried out. Before going to bed, take 2 large leaves of horseradish, dip them in boiling water, then put them on your back and wrap them with a cloth. If you feel a mild burning sensation — this is normal. Burns with such a compress are impossible.
In the morning, carefully unroll the cloth and remove the leaves. They absorbed salt from the body, and if there was a lot of it, they may even fall apart immediately. We determine in which places of the body the most salt. We repeat the procedure with the compress until the salt stops appearing on the leaves.
In general, horseradish leaves are unique in that they extract salt deposits directly through the pores of the skin. Therefore, not to use such an ability of an available product is simply unwise. It is not for nothing that village healers often used horseradish leaf treatment.
Tincture of horseradish leaves helps with back and joint pain. The remedy is made from young, green leaves, which are folded into a glass jar and poured with alcohol (or vodka). The mixture is infused for two days in a dark, cool place, after which it can be rubbed on sore areas. It also helps with aching pain in the joints.
As for horseradish, housewives treat it differently. Someone cannot grow this plant on their own plot of land, and someone cannot bring it out. But no one will argue that horseradish is a useful product that can be used for many purposes.
But remember – horseradish is an allergenic product, so before using any tinctures and compresses from its roots and leaves need a doctor's consultation.
