The motorcyclist shot in Beauport and the suspect do not know each other

The motorcyclist was found bleeding on the road.

The young man who allegedly shot a motorcyclist on Sainte-Anne Boulevard on Tuesday evening faces a charge of attempted murder.

Simon Lachance appeared in court late after -noon Wednesday at the Quebec City courthouse.

The resident of Beauport has no criminal record. The prosecution opposed his release, in addition to forbidding him to communicate with the victim.

The prosecution specified that the accused did not know the motorcyclist.

The latter was hit by at least one projectile around 11:30 p.m. as he was about to make a turn at the corner of boulevard Sainte-Anne and rue Francheville.

Wounded to the upper body, the 28-year-old man was taken to hospital

The victim was found bloody in the ground before being taken to hospital. He suffered upper body injuries, but his life is not in danger.

Alerted, the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) searched the area with dog handlers, which led to the arrest of Simon Lachance.

A large security perimeter has been erected on Sainte-Anne Boulevard.

In addition to being charged with attempted murder, he faces a charge of careless use of a firearm by discharging with intent to injure or maim.


He went to the Quebec City detention center and is due to return to court on Friday for his release investigation.
