Scientists first presented qualitative evidence that provide different guidance rules physical activity help you live longer.
More and more scientific studies confirm that exercise is an effective means of prevention and treatment of many diseases. The leadership of the world health organization and various national guidelines specify a certain level of physical activity, which should contribute to maintenance of health. It is 150 minutes of moderate exercise or 75 intense aerobic exercise and at least two strength training a week.
If you live longer people who adhere to the existing recommendations for physical activity? Oddly enough, until recently, it was not known precisely.
The study, which was published in The BMJ, has confirmed that the level of physical activity recommended by health organizations, helps to live longer. Intense exercise was slightly more effective in preventing death from any cause than are light and moderate.
The study included data on nearly 500 thousand Americans over the age of 18-85 years. Participants reported the level at which they maintained physical activity from 1997 to 2014. The scientists compared these data with the risk of death for the period that covered the scientific work.
The recommendations have a physical activity, only 16% of participants. It turned out that the risk of death from any cause they were 40% below average. Those who perform only aerobic exercises, this risk was lower by 29%, and strength exercises lowered the risk of death by 11%.
Scientists focused on eight groups of causes of death: cardiovascular disease, cancer, chronic respiratory system illness, trauma, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes. It turned out that aerobic exercise protects against premature death from each of them. Power improved chance to survive only if the first three of these groups of diseases.
