The number of trips increased in July in Canada

According to Statistics Canada, Canadians have made about six times as many return trips in July as a year earlier.

The number of international arrivals to Canada increased last July, but it did not x27;has not yet recovered to pre-pandemic levels, says Statistics Canada.

The agency says 11 times more trips to Canada were made by US residents in July compared to the same period last year. However, this figure represents approximately 60% of the number of trips recorded in July 2019, before the pandemic.

Residents of countries other than Canada and the United States took 10 times more travel to Canada in July 2022 than in July 2021, but this number is more than half (56.6%) of the July 2019 tally.

According to Statistics Canada, Canadians made about six times as many return trips in July as they did a year earlier. As with US visitors, however, this number was still about 64% lower than July 2019.

In contrast, the number of Canadians returning from; overseas travel in July 2022 reached 82.9% of the pre-pandemic level, “and it represents the highest rate of resumption of overseas travel to date,” says Statistics Canada.

This July data includes the period when mandatory random COVID-19 testing for fully vaccinated travelers was paused, in June 2022, before resuming later in July.

< p class="e-p">As air travel increased in July, labor shortages contributed to flight cancellations, long lines at security checkpoints and the loss of baggage in terminals, which has affected the main airports, underlines Statistics Canada.
