17-year-old from Tampa, Florida was arrested on Friday in connection with the massive hacking Twitter earlier this month, when dozens of accounts were compromised within the cyber attacks and fraud with cryptocurrency. The state attorney of Hillsborough Andrew Warren filed 30 charges against 17-year-old Graham Clark, calling him the “mastermind” of the hacking. “These crimes were committed using the names of famous people and celebrities, but they are not the main victims in this case. This “Bit-Con” have been developed to steal money from ordinary Americans from across the country, including here in Florida. This massive fraud was organized right here in our backyard, and we won’t stand for it,” said Warren in a press release.
Later on Friday, the U.S. Department of justice announced in a press release, which also arrested two other people in connection with hacker attack: 19-year-old Mason shepherd living in the UK and known as the “Chawan”, and 22-year-old NIMA Fazeley Orlando, Florida.
At the press conference, Warren declared that at the moment, Clark is not facing Federal charges and that the prosecution is conducted in the state, because the law of Florida allows for greater flexibility in the prosecution of minors.
Clark was charged with one case of organized fraud worth more than 50 000 US$, 17 cases of fraud in connection with communications worth more than $ 300 in one case, fraudulent use of personal information in order to receive the sum of 100 000 USD.
