An elderly American woman tried to break away from the police at a speed of 180 km/h. Only spikes on the road were able to stop the 75-year-old violator.
In the United States, Oregon police arrested a 75-year-old pensioner who staged a real chase at high speed. The incident was reported on the police station's Facebook page.
The incident took place a few days ago near the town of Merlin. Around midnight, the patrol crew noticed a car moving along the highway at a speed of about 180 km/h.
The driver ignored the orders to stop and began to break away from the police. Crews from several police stations soon joined the chase.
They tried to push the car off the road or turn around, but to no avail. I had to lay out the spikes on the road, but they did not work the first time – the car continued to move with punctured wheels. Only the repeated use of the spikes made it possible to stop the car.
The offender turned out to be 75-year-old Elizabeth Catherine Essex. She was arrested and charged with dangerous driving and disobeying police orders. The motives that prompted the pensioner to break the law are currently unknown.
