The President of Kosovo Hashim Thaci and former speaker of the Kosovo Parliament, Kadri Veseli charged with crimes against humanity and war crimes, including murder, kidnapping and torture. The corresponding statement posted on the Chamber’s website and a specialized Prosecutor’s office of Kosovo, located in the Hague.
“On April 24, the Special Prosecutor’s office sent the indictment out of ten points on the Court, accusing Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veseli and others in committing a number of crimes against humanity and war crimes, including killings, enforced disappearances, persecution, and torture,” the statement reads.
In the indictment it is alleged that Thaci and Veseli other suspects are criminally responsible for almost 100 murders. The crimes listed in the indictment relate to hundreds of victims among Kosovo Albanians, Serbs, Roma and other ethnic groups and include political opponents.
Thaci and Veseli was among the founders of the Kosovo Liberation army, in the late 1990s, she fought against Serbian forces during Kosovo’s independence. Thaci was the political head of the army, Veseli, chief of intelligence.
