As the “O2” portal reminds, February 16 celebrates we will be Fat Thursday. Fat Thursday will surprise us with prices
The ubiquitous high prices have been bothering us for a good few months and unfortunately there is no indication that the situation will improve in the near future. This year's Fat Thursday will not be cheap either. Many of us will certainly buy fewer donuts than a year ago or decide to buy cheaper products from discount stores.
Confectioners do not hide that the prices of donuts must go up, because the prices of ingredients used for their production have increased, as well as energy costs. Magda Gessler has already increased the prices of her donuts. In the confectionery “Słodki, salty” signed by her name, you have to pay as much as 18 zlotys for one donut! This is PLN 3 more than in the same period last year.
Why is it so expensive?
Magda Gessler does not hide that high prices in her restaurants is the result of high-quality ingredients that are used to make dishes. The restaurateur emphasizes that the price of donuts reflects the costs incurred in its production.
“To make a really good donut, you have to spend money. You don't make it out of thin air, you have to spend it on 36 egg yolks and almost half a kilo of butter, for a kilo of flour. It costs! It costs people costs space,” she said in an interview with “Fact”.
