The original 1989 Batmobile is up for sale in the US. For the legendary car they ask for 1.5 million dollars. Its details were disclosed on the website of the seller company.
It was this car that starred in the films “Batman” and “Batman Returns” directed by Tim Burton. It was designed by British illustrator Julian Kaldow. The appearance of the car with a long hood, interior shifted back and huge wings has already become a cult. Retractable machine guns are installed on the sides.
The Batmobile's interior is a three-seater, with the driver sitting in the back. The fact is that during filming, Michael Keaton, who played Batman, did not drive a car – this was done by a stuntman who was hiding behind the back of the driver's seat.
According to the plot of the movie, the Batmobile was equipped with a jet engine, but in fact it is an electric car. Its top speed is 48 km/h.
The seller said that the battery of the electric car has not been charged for the past 30 years, that is, while it is not in motion. It is also known that the car has rear-wheel drive and independent suspension on all wheels.
After filming, the Batmobile was used in various shows and promotions. Then he got into a private collection in New Jersey and now the owner decided to sell it.
