The UN General Assembly voted to reject Russia's call for a secret ballot on whether to condemn Moscow's actions on annexation of the occupied territories of Ukraine. Reuters writes about this.

It is reported that the General Assembly, by 107 votes in favor, decided to hold a public, rather than secret, vote on the draft resolution. Diplomats said the vote is likely to take place on Wednesday or Thursday.

Journalists write that only 13 countries opposed holding a public vote on the draft resolution, another 39 countries abstained, and the rest of the countries, including Russia and China, did not vote.

The publication writes that Russia claims that some kind of Western lobbying means that there could be problems if positions are expressed publicly.

“What does this have to do with peace and security or conflict resolution?” — said the representative of the Russian Federation in the UN Vasily Nebenzya.

It is reported that Russia immediately tried to force the General Assembly to reconsider this issue immediately after the vote, but to no avail.

Note that the Draft Resolution of the UN General Assembly calls state does not recognize the actions of Russia and confirms the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Serhiy Kyslytsia called on countries to defend the principles of the founding UN Charter.

“After the Russian delegation, when it enters the General Assembly, there is a trail of blood, and the hall is filled with the smell of smoldering human flesh. This is what we endured in Syria. This is what is happening today in Ukraine,” he said.

We also recall that Sweden did not allow the Russian Federation to investigate the Nord Stream explosion. As the head of the provisional government of Sweden stated, the incident occurred in the zone of economic interests of the country. Moreover, you need to be prepared that such incidents will happen again.
