Quebec Sûbec; Arrest Suspected Murderers of Bernard Cherfan

The victim was shot dead on boulevard des Laurentides, in the Vimont district, in Laval, last June.

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) arrested two suspects on Tuesday in the case of the murder of Bernard Cherfan, shot dead while he was in a restaurant on boulevard des Laurentides, in Laval, last June.

In a statement released Wednesday, the SQ said the two suspects, Tafari Bezabeh (19) and Jalen Joel Campbell Brown (21), are currently being held in Ontario.

Both men appeared by videoconference at the Laval courthouse.

The first is charged with first degree murder, while the second is also charged with this crime as well as complicity after does.

Another person, Ontarian Britney Lewis, had already been arrested in connection with the case in mid-June. She was charged with premeditated murder and conspiracy to murder.

Bernard Cherfan was known to police for his activities in Lebanese organized crime.

He was also considered close to Frédérick Silva, a hitman recently convicted of three homicides.

Bernard Cherfan had already escaped an attempted murder in 2015.< /p>

The two new arrests were made as part of Operation Centaur, the SQ said, still in a press release.
