Quebec Sûtébec is investigating a video of an animal being struck

Video of just over a minute is circulating on social networks.

Sûreté du Québec (SQ) police officers on the North Shore are studying a disturbing video circulating on social networks where we see a motorist deliberately hitting a moose calf.

In the video, just over a minute long, the driver chases the animal and runs over the baby deer twice.

Joined by Radio -Canada, the SQ confirms having read the video which would have been filmed in the surroundings of Sept-Îles. The SQ is trying to shed light on these events and would have identified an individual present in the video.

The Ministry of Forests, Wildlife and Parks also confirms having read the video and Quebec Wildlife Protection officers from the Sept-Îles office visited the scene on Wednesday.

Agents immediately started an investigation at this level. They went to the scene with officers from the Sûreté du Québec to meet a suspect in the case, said the emissary sergeant for the image of the Protection de la faune du Québec, Raphaël Limet.< /p>

A charge of having killed a big game with a vehicle could in particular be filed. This type of charge is punishable by a fine of at least $2,500, recalls the Ministry of Forests, Wildlife and Parks. The SQ could also lay charges of cruelty to animals.

The Protection of Quebec Wildlife reminds that any case of poaching can be reported to the SOS Braconnage-Urgence faune sauvage centre. at 1 800 463-2191 or on the ministry's website.
