The track alyona alyona was taken by Netflix. What other Ukrainian music got into the world cinema and why

Ukrainian music will more and more often get into the world cinema, because because of the war many of our stars live in Europe.

Because of the war, many of our stars live abroad: Potap and Nastya, Monatik, Jerry Heil and alyona alyona, Dorofeeva, the Kazka group. Therefore, Ukrainian music began to be heard more and more often in Europe. And due to the close interest in the world to our country, this music is beginning to be noticed by the world monsters of the entertainment industry. A joint track by alyona alyona and French DJ Vladimir Cauchemar called Dancer will appear in the French melodrama about schoolchildren “Dangerous Liaisons” produced by Netflix. And before, Ukrainian music was included in the soundtracks for world films, but not often. Each time there was a special reason for it.

The duet track of alyona alyona and Vladimir Cauchemar Dancer sounds in English and Ukrainian. It was recorded a year ago, but only now it became known that he got into the film “Dangerous Liaisons” – about a tight tangle of different romantic loves among high school students. Young people dance in a disco to the catchy track Dancer.

“This small fragment is a great honor for me. Now it is especially important to promote Ukrainian music in the world, the ethnicity of the country, our cultural code. And therefore the Ukrainian track, and even the Ukrainian language on a platform like Netflix, is already a victory. Today we sound in a fragment, tomorrow we will write the main soundtracks for a top movie,” commented alyona alyona on Instagram.

And I must say, the singer has reason for this. Once the soloist of The Hardkiss Yulia Sanina, when asked why they do not develop a career in Europe, because most of their compositions are in English, answered that Western producers agree to invest in Ukrainian musicians only if they move to Europe.

“Musicians should be within walking distance. Let's say the producers agreed on an interview on TV and the artists should come to it,” Yulia Sanina explained.

Now, because of the war, many of our stars are within walking distance in Europe, which is why international cooperation is increasingly happening.

Focuspredicts that there will be more and more examples of such cooperation, including with Western film companies.

As for the past, we can cite just a couple of examples of such cooperation.

The first is the hit Dancing Verka Serduchka's Lasha Tumbai got into the Hollywood comedy “Spy” (2015): just during the performance of our star, Jason Statham himself passes by.

Of course, this story is a trail of the fact that Verka Serduchka took second place with this song at Eurovision 2007 and the image of the star-guide gained international popularity.

In the third season of the legendary American crime series “Fargo” ( 2017) with Ewan McGregor (“Star Wars”), the track “Sho z-under the oak” by the Ukrainian ethno-chaos group “Dakha Braha” sounds in the episode when the hero of the British actor David Thewlis is ironically talking to the “dull” parking attendant. A “Ukrainian” note was needed for the scene.

Why did they take “Dakha Brakha”? This ethno-house band often toured in Europe and was a participant in many ethno-festivals around the world, therefore it is internationally famous.

Now, due to the war, many Ukrainian artists have the same “step” accessibility, which Yulia Sanina spoke about. And we assume that the process of spreading Ukrainian music around the world will only grow. Our music has always been strong (when compared to other art forms in Ukraine), it only needed to be given the right “package” and promoted.
