The U.S. Treasury Department fined the company Amazon for violating sanctions against the Crimea, Iran and Syria. This is stated in the document published on the Agency’s website.
It is noted that the company received a fine of $134 523 for violations of several sanctions the decision of the office for foreign assets control (OFAC).
So, Amazon has supplied goods and provided services to individuals against which sanctions are provided, as well as persons at that time in the Crimea, Iran and Syria.
According to the U.S. Treasury, from 15 November 2011 to 18 October 2018, the people who were in the Crimea, Iran and Syria, has placed an order or were the business of providing services and goods to persons in these regions through the sites that belonged to Amazon.
In addition, it was found that the services of the company availed by the persons who have violated various international laws and regulations in a number of countries.
Clarifies that Amazon had violated U.S. law because of the imperfection of its own technology. For example, clients from the Crimea can use the services of the company, with a spelling mistake in the name of the Peninsula.
