As part of a new package of sanctions against the Russian Federation, the US Treasury imposed restrictions on the innovation center Skolkovo, which in Russia was sometimes called its “Silicon Valley”. This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Finance.

Moreover, 13 new individuals were added to the sanctions list. Among them are the owner of the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works Viktor Rashnikov, the founder of Evrokhim and SUEK Andrey Melnichenko, the co-owner of the Sheremetyevo airport Alexander Ponomarenko and others.
The new sanctions also apply to those whom the Kremlin appointed to lead the occupation administrations in Kherson regions: Vladimir Saldo, Kirill Stremousov and the so-called “mayor” of Mariupol Konstantin Ivashchenko.
Moscow Scientific and Technological Complex develops new technologies and financed from the state budget of the Russian Federation. The idea of such a project appeared thanks to the proposal of the publicist Maxim Kalashnikov, after which Dmitry Medvedev, who served as president in 2009, instructed the government to implement such a project. Subsequently, the activities of the center were accompanied by a number of high-profile corruption scandals.
