A two-day summit of the Arab League (LAS) took place in Algeria. This was the first such event since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, which was held in person. Writes about it Newsru.co.il

It is reported that only two-thirds of the leaders attended the summit. Reportedly, this demonstrated the split of the Arab world.

The portal writes that a communiqué was drawn up at the end of the summit, which does not condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine, although this caused a food security crisis in the “Arab world”.

In addition, the document refers to the need to create a Palestinian state, the capital of which will be in Jerusalem. However, some Arab countries do not mention the normalization of relations with Israel.

What is the League of Arab States?

The League of Arab States is an organization that includes Arab states, as well as a number of friendly non-Arab countries. In total, the organization consists of 22 members, including Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and others.

Let us also recall that the UN has calculated how much food was taken out along the “grain corridor”. According to the Joint Coordination Center, almost 300,000 tons of grain were exported from the ports of Ukraine on November 3 alone.
