Even more impressive, electric vehicles travel an average of 124,000 kilometers during their lifetime, surpassing the 116,000 kilometers of gasoline cars.
This meteoric rise can be explained by several factors. Manufacturers have rapidly improved their technologies. Each new generation of electric vehicles reduces the risk of breakdown by 12% compared to the previous one. This is a rate of development that is significantly higher than that of thermal cars, which are only progressing by 6.7% for petrol and 1.9% for diesel.

Increasing the daily mileage by 1.6 kilometres increases the risk of breakdown by 8.4% for a petrol car and 6.4% for a diesel. Electric vehicles limit this increase to only 2.5%. A resistance to wear that can be explained by their simpler architecture, with fewer moving mechanical parts.
Marked differences between manufacturers
Tesla dominates the ranking of manufacturers in terms of longevity. The American brand is clearly ahead of its competitors in the electric segment. On the thermal side, Skoda is the benchmark for diesel while Honda leads the way in gasoline. These significant differences demonstrate the importance of industrial know-how, beyond the technology itself.
