Thousands of accounts suspended for no apparent reason on Instagram
Internet users report problems with Instagram since about 9 a.m. Monday.
Internet users from all over the world had a bad surprise when they woke up on Monday: their Instagram account was suspended for no apparent reason.
Thousands of comments and reports to this effect have been published on the Downdetector.com site, which maintains a global collaborative directory of computer failures from several sites.
Several say they have lost hundreds of subscribers. Others say they tried unsuccessfully to recover their account using an authentication procedure and that it subsequently displayed a blank profile. People are also unable to refresh their feed or even log into the app.
The problem is so widespread that the hashtag #InstagramDown is among the most popular on Twitter on Monday morning.
Instagram is on the lookout for the causes of the outage. The photos app tweeted to its Twitter account around 10:15 a.m. Monday, mentioning that it was aware that people were having trouble accessing their Instagram profile.
We are reviewing the matter and apologize for the inconvenience, reads the post.
