After years of deserting the stage, François Cluzet will make his big comeback with the play Encore une journée divine. On this occasion, he confided in in the columns of Paris Match, Thursday January 30, 2025. He thus returned to his private life whilehe was married three times and had four children. He was questioned about the departure of his mother when he was still young.

The latter had assured him that he would eventually understand why she had made such a decision. And she was right. “My mother fell in love with the representative of Larousse. Her life as a woman was enlightened, so she left. I never held it against her, because I understood that it was out of love. Besides, that's what I've done almost all my life too“, he declared at first.

François Cluzet acknowledged that he had sometimes acted in a cowardly manner

He then explained that he had had three wives and four children. He added that he had also had many affairs. “When I began to feel that things were going wrong, in a cowardly way, I would provoke the argument so that I could leave later“, he revealed in a very honest manner.

Even though the decision to leave his children was never an easy one to make, he always told himself that it was ultimately the right thing to do. “I told myself: 'It will be worse if I stay'. And I never wanted to sacrifice myself“, he justified himself. Despite everything, he assured that he had done what he thought was right to maintain as many ties as possible with his children.

A situation that was not easy to manage for François Cluzet's children

I did everything I could to maintain the best relationship with my children. Which wasn't obvious, because when you say that a child 'I'm with you', he answers you 'no, dad, you're not here'“, he remembered again.

His first daughter, Blanche, was born in 1984. She is the fruit of his former marriage with the screenwriter and then producer Chantal Perrin. When he was then in a relationship with Marie Trintignant, he had a son, Paul, born in 19931. From his long love affair with Valérie Bonneton, two children were born: Joseph (2001) and Marguerite (2006). Today, he is married since 2011 to Narjiss Slaoui-Falcoz, former director of communications at the InterContinental Carlton Cannes.
