DETROIT (AP) – Eric Haase hit a two-run double in a first inning as the Tigers crossed the plate three times and Detroit beat the Baltimore Orioles 6-2 on Sunday.
Detroit managed to evenly split the four-game series to improve its home record to 30-24 this season. The Tigers tied a major league record with 59 losses at home in 2019, the most recent full major league season.
Detroit starter Tyler Alexander trailed 2-0 after four batters, but did not allow another run for four innings. Nicaraguan right-hander Erasmo Ramírez (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings to score his first major league win since Sept. 3, 2018, when he beat the Orioles in a field job with the Seattle Mariners.
The Orioles did not score again after a two-run first inning.
For Baltimore, Spenser Watkins (2-2) allowed four runs, three hits and two walks in his first performance against the franchise that drafted him in 2014.
For the Tigers, Venezuelans Harold Castro 4-1 with scored and Miguel Cabrera 1-0 with one scored and one produced.
For the Orioles, Venezuelan Anthony Santander 4-2 with an RBI. The Dominicans Maikel Franco 4-0 and Domingo Leyba 3-0.
